Back in 1998, Gillian Adams was one of five Australians chosen to represent Australia at the International Beauty Showcase in New York. There she met Noelle de Caprio, the woman who originated the Day Spa concept in the USA, incorporating Beauty, Body and Wellness. Gillian was inspired.
After researching Europe and Asia, she returned to Australia with a vision: to provide full spa services within an urban environment. She acquired the old Commonwealth Bank building at 1356 Pacific Highway Turramurra and opened her doors in 1994.
Stage One saw the upstairs devoted to hair and beauty services, while stage two involved creating the aquamedic pool, steam room, vichy shower, hydrotherapy bath kitchen and 7 therapy rooms downstairs.
Today, the deco style of the original architecture has been carefully preserved and complemented with subtle colours, fresh flowers, original art and sculpture, refreshing fragrances and the soothing sounds of running water.
Here, the sensational aquamedic pool, using a million unseen fingers deftly coaxes the stress from your body with gentle hydrotherapy jets and strong workout jets, finishing with the steam room. Six beauty therapists provide body wraps, vichy massage, facials, manicures and pedicures. Two massage therapists practice aromatherapy, Swedish, deep tissue and remedial techniques.
Upstairs, seven hairstylists do wonderful things with colour, condition and style while in the kitchen, the chef prepares the lunch - light and luscious creations to serve with freshly made juices, coffee or Australian wine in the relaxation areas and quaint garden.
A visit to Gillian Adams Salon and Spa is a total indulgence. It's a reward, a revival, and a renovation of jaded spirits and weary bodies. Above all, it's an exquisite experience in beauty, health and wellness.
